About Directors Inc
Directors Inc was established in response to an age old quandary; after completing formal training, in this case governance, how does one land that first, real, directorship opportunity?
After completing the IoD’s Governance Development Programme, a small group of enthusiastic individuals from the Waikato, passionate about the regiojn, establishing their governance careers, began meeting regularly. During these informal sessions they heard from experienced practitioners, completed boardroom simulations and examined board case studies, to further their professional development. ‘The Forum’ as it was then known, was born, and numbers grew as further cohorts from IoD professional development joined.
With the success of The Forum, plus the growing confidence and experience of its members, another quandary surfaced. As some members secured directorship appointments, the questions of succession and sustainability arose… and that’s where some No.8 thinking came in.
A limited liability company, FBP Nominees Limited (now trading as Directors Inc.), was formed in 2013, to provide real life opportunities for the group’s members (now shareholders) to experience the challenges of governance, while launching a small business developed to support organisations (particularly SMEs, Not for Profits & NGOs) looking to establish or strengthen their governance practices.
Fast forward to today and Directors Inc. NZ has now been established to create a platform for regional Directors Inc. licenced shareholder owned companies to be established throughout the country – the first of which is Directors Inc. Waikato.
